More than a third of new cancer cases preventable
An analysis of new cancer cases found that about 38 percent of the 19 million new cases of cancer worldwide (in 2022) are related to 30 changeable risk factors. The main two, smoking (related to 15 percent - for men 23 percent - of new cancer cases) and alcohol consumption (3 percent), account for almost half of the preventable cancer cases.
