Antiretroviral therapy gives HIV patients a lifeline to suppress AIDS. However, the virus is not eliminated and lifelong treatment is required. Now, there is a better understanding of the problem: HIV patients lack a particular protein, CD73. Possibly the insight can lead to a new therapy in the long run.
