New tough material

Often materials become brittle at low temperatures. A new alloy of chromium, cobalt, and nickel, however, has not only a very high fracture toughness (5 times as tough as the best steels) but keeps the qualities at temperatures as low as 20 kelvin, making it potentially useful for cryogenic applications.
