A general monthly ticket costing 49 euros for all local trains and other public transport in Germany has been introduced in May 2023. It led to a reduction of car usage and with that saved overall about 4.7 percent of CO₂ emissions in traffic, corresponding to 6.7 million tons of CO₂.
